Fourth of July Weekend 2014

On Thursday I made the two and a half hour trek to the other side of the state for the holiday weekend. I had never driven that far before by myself but it turned out just fine. There was relatively little traffic and the weather was good. I got there before my friend Ryan was home so I had a couple hours to kill. I just walked around campus and read by the pond. I was in a great mood, excited for the upcoming festivities, until I returned to my car and found a bright orange parking ticket :(

On Friday me, David, Lindsay, Ryan, and Ian went to Saugatuck and spent the day at the beach. It was a beautiful day for swimming and sunbathing. I absolutely love the beach. It is one of my favorite places to be. I could have stayed for a few more hours but my friends were ready to go. We decided to grad some early dinner in town. We ate a restaurant called Wicker Park Bar and Grill. It was my first time eating there and I enjoyed it.

After that we went back for the evening and light off some fireworks. A successful 4th of July!

On Saturday David and I went to the zoo in the morning. It was our first time at this zoo and we had a lot of fun. It is a little zoo but it had some good exhibits and the animals were really active that day.

We got to  pet manta rays! They were kind of slimy but it was so cool :)

We then went to the mall for a bit of shopping and a movie. We saw How to Train Your Dragon 2. It wasn't as good as the first, but it was still very good. I would recommend it!

We ended the day with dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, The Electric Cheetah. It was delicious as always. After dinner we found a spot to set a blanket along the Grand River for the fireworks show.

What a fun weekend!
