Fourth of July Weekend 2014

On Thursday I made the two and a half hour trek to the other side of the state for the holiday weekend. I had never driven that far before by myself but it turned out just fine. There was relatively little traffic and the weather was good. I got there before my friend Ryan was home so I had a couple hours to kill. I just walked around campus and read by the pond. I was in a great mood, excited for the upcoming festivities, until I returned to my car and found a bright orange parking ticket :(

Starting Over

Like all my attempts to do something different, I failed. I didn't write a blog post every day. In fact, I didn't make it past two posts. But that's okay. I'm not upset or disappointed in myself. I do want to try to start again though. I probably won't post every single day, but I am going to try to write as much as I can. I have a busy schedule and, when I do get a break, sometimes I just want to curl up in a blanket and watch Netflix for hours on end. When I sit down to write something, I feel like I have to write with a purpose, like an essay or a research paper. That's one reason this didn't turn out as I had planned. It's difficult for me to just sit down and write. I've never kept a journal for more than a month. As a child, I had stacks of half filled diaries. But I think its important to document life, to be able to go back and look at different points in my life and remember how I was feeling or what I was thinking. I am going to do this for me.

New Beginnings

I'm writing this post a night early because I know I won't have time to write tomorrow, as I will be spending all day at the beach for my birthday. A post about that will come later.

However, today/tonight I wanted to write about new beginnings. I received an email with my work schedule and position today. I'm working the football game operations and my position is "Lot D Cash Taker." I'll be working one day a week/every other week for about 8-9 hours. I haven't had an on campus job before so I'm pretty excited about this.  And it's only for football season, so if I find I don't have the time for a job its not a huge commitment.

I also attended my first E-board meeting. I am the social events coordinator for my school's Pre Physical Therapy Club. I was pretty nervous about going because I don't know anyone on the board very well, and I hate going places where I know no one. I also only have a few ideas so far for events, so I need to get planning! I've never had a position on a club executive board before because I have always had such anxiety about running for a position. But I sucked it up last year, ran, and I am really excited I did. The meeting went really well and I can't wait to get to know other people who are going into the same profession as I am. I can honestly say that I don't have a clue yet as to how to turn my ideas into plans, but I'll get there...

Sometimes you have to put yourself out there and do the things that scare you.

What new things are you starting up this school year?
Also, feel free to leave me any suggestions for social events for clubs in the comments!!
